London, England (PRWEB) April 5, 2006

London Executive Aviation (‘LEA’), the UK’s largest private jet charter operator, was named Best General Aviation Operator in the inaugural Baltic Air Charter Association (‘BACA’) Excellence Awards held at Ironmongers’ Hall in London on 30 March 2006. LEA received one of only five awards presented, with other winners including Virgin Atlantic, DHL and Dubai International Airport.

BACA is a premier industry association, which since 1949 has represented the interests of commercial aviation companies, particularly air charter providers. It represents some 125 UK and international companies, including air brokers, charter airlines, airports, business aircraft operators, consultants and others involved in air charter, scheduled flying and air cargo. BACA’s patron is HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The awards were decided by the votes of BACA members who were asked to nominate the organisations they consider best in class. Patrick Margetson-Rushmore, chief executive of LEA, received the company’s trophy from Andrew Fotheringham, general manager of DHL.

The other awards presented were for Best Airport (Dubai International), Best Cargo Airline (DHL), Best Handling Agent (Harrods Aviation) and Best Passenger Airline (Virgin Atlantic Airways).

LEA Launches Mustang Service at Oxford

LEA Launches Mustang Service at Oxford

London, England (PRWeb UK) August 23, 2009

London Executive Aviation (‘LEA’) (http://www.flylea.com/), one of Europe’s largest business jet charter (http://www.flylea.com/charter-a-private-flight/air-charter.html) operators, is expanding the company’s operations at London Oxford Airport by basing a Cessna Citation Mustang (http://www.flylea.com/our-fleet/our-fleet/cessna-citation-mustang.html) at the facility.

As the first of a new generation of ‘Very Light Jets’ (VLJs), the four-passenger Mustang sets new standards in the affordability of private jet use, allowing LEA to cut the cost of executive jet chartering by up to 40%.

Complementing the Mustang, LEA already bases a new, 13-passenger Embraer Legacy 600 business jet at Oxford.

George Galanopoulos, managing director of LEA, says: “The revolutionary potential of the Mustang, allied with the ambitions of London Oxford Airport, is a very exciting combination. The airport is an attractive, affordable and well-positioned centre for business aviation, with great opening hours and uncongested airspace, and we look forward to growing our presence there.”

Patrick Margetson-Rushmore, LEA’s chief executive, adds: “The low operating cost of the Mustang means that we can now offer jet charter prices to people in the Oxford region for the equivalent cost of a turboprop. The Mustang is perfect for the kind of short-haul flights with 1-3 passengers that dominate European business aviation.”

LEA became the first private jet company to introduce a Mustang to the British Isles in January 2008. The company is now operating six Mustangs, alongside six other classes of larger business jet, and has been the largest operator of VLJs and Mustangs in Europe for the past 20 months.

London Executive Aviation Launches Twitter Site

London Executive Aviation Launches Twitter Site

London, England (PRWeb UK) November 6, 2009

London Executive Aviation (http://www.flylea.com/) (‘LEA’), one of Europe’s largest business jet charter operators (http://www.flylea.com/charter-a-private-flight/air-charter.html), is now talking to the world through Twitter (http://twitter.com/LondonExecutive).

LEA’s ‘tweets’ include updates on the company’s services and destinations, the latest empty leg opportunities and links to new footage on the operator’s ‘YouTube’ (http://www.youtube.com/user/LondonExecutiveLEA) channel.

LEA chief executive Patrick Margetson-Rushmore says: “We’re eager to be at the leading-edge of new technologies and social media. Twitter is 21st-century word-of-mouth and a great way for us to talk to our customers and potential customers. We’re looking to add inventive tweets all the time.

“We’ve got over 200 followers already. We’re used to being a leader and on this occasion we’re happy to be followed!”

George Galanopoulos, LEA’s managing director, adds: “At its best, Twitter is a productive dialogue, not a monologue. As well as being followed, we’ll be tracking key players in the executive aviation and luxury travel industries ourselves, making new contacts and keeping up-to-date with their activities.

“We’re really excited about how we can use new media to promote and improve our business. Some of the videos on our ‘YouTube’ channel, for example, showing off the aircraft in our fleet, are simply stunning.”

LEA Becomes First Operator in Europe to Offer Legacy 650

LEA Becomes First Operator in Europe to Offer Legacy 650

Dubai, UAE (PRWEB) December 9, 2010

London Executive Aviation (LEA) has become the first executive air charter operator in Europe to add the new Embraer Legacy 650 business jet to the company’s air operator’s certificate (AOC) and charter fleet.

The Middle East Business Aviation show (MEBA) debut of Legacy 650 G-RBNS this week follows the aircraft’s first charter flight for LEA, which brought a family from St Petersburg, Russia, to Dubai in exceptional comfort and style.

Patrick Margetson-Rushmore, LEA’s chief executive, says: “The Legacy 650 acquitted itself superbly on its first charter flight for us. Not only did the aircraft’s range cope effortlessly with the leg from Russia to Dubai, but the passengers and crew were struck by the extremely quiet and relaxing cabin conditions.

“We are delighted to be the first operator in Europe to make the Legacy 650 available for charter,” he continues. “As one of Europe’s most experienced Legacy operators, we are confident that G-RBNS will make an excellent complement to our five-aircraft Legacy 600 fleet and be an ideal choice for many longer-range missions.”

LEA is exhibiting G-RBNS at MEBA this week on the static display.

LEA Establishes Oxford Base

LEA Establishes Oxford Base

London, England (PRWeb UK) July 26, 2009

London Executive Aviation (‘LEA’) (http://www.flylea.com/home.html) is extending the company’s network with a new base at Oxford Airport in the UK.

One of Europe’s largest business jet charter operators (http://www.flylea.com/charter-a-private-flight/air-charter.html), LEA is basing its latest Embraer Legacy 600 at the fast-growing general aviation airport.

The new Legacy, the 1,100th aircraft to be produced on Embraer’s ERJ 145 platform, arrived at Oxford on June 9 2009, becoming the first LEA aircraft to be based there.

George Galanopoulos, managing director of LEA, says: “The recent investments at Oxford Airport are establishing the facility as another attractive and well-positioned centre for business aviation. Now that the airport can accommodate larger aircraft we believe that it will become increasingly popular with charter customers and operators. We are looking forward to basing a growing number of aircraft at Oxford in the coming years.”

Galanopoulos continues: “The airport is ideal for people who live and work to the west of London and who might currently be flying from Luton or Farnborough. Oxford offers a less-costly alternative to those facilities, with great opening hours and uncongested airspace.”

Steve Jones, Oxford Airport’s managing director, says: “We are delighted to welcome LEA, one of the longest-established and most high-profile charter and management companies to our family of businesses at Oxford. LEA’s high-specification, super mid-size Legacy 600, with its striking ramp appeal, is a welcome and complementary addition to the charter fleet based here.”
